Bahamas, 1995

The photographs on this page were not taken with a digital camera, but with a 15-year-old Olympus OM-10. At some point in our travels we lost the negatives, and these images were scanned from prints.

Coconut trees grow wild in the Bahamas, but this one was in the grounds of our house. Your browser cannot display JPEG images!   Nice timing by Leong, capturing the falling coconut! Fresh coconuts are heavy; you definitely do not want one to drop on your toes. Your browser cannot display JPEG images!

Fresh coconuts which are not overripe contain a lot of nearly-clear "coconut milk", which is delicious, and a thin layer of translucent jelly around the inside of the "nut". You have to chop away a lot of outer husk to get at the nut. Your browser cannot display JPEG images!
