Modern Luxor
Modern Luxor has interesting markets and seems to be safe for
tourists. The people are generally friendly to foreigners.
This is Hussam, who showed us how to use the local buses. (If you
go to Luxor and want to use the local buses - which are
extremely cheap - you need to find a local person who will
show you how to get the right bus.):
One morning we went to see the local livestock market, in the hope
of seeing some camels. There weren't any camels that day,
but it was interesting anyway. This was early morning, and
it was quite cold - that's why the locals are wearing scarves.
